School Counselors communicate through Google Classroom. All students are automatically added to Google Classrooms based on their graduation year. Google Classroom is where Mid East, CCP, and in-building students will find all school counseling updates and information.

 

  • Mid-East Presentation Day for Sophomores

A representative from Mideast comes to WMHS every October to present to all 10th graders about the opportunity to apply to Mideast.

  • Mid-East Buffalo and Mid-East Zanesville Field Trips (10th Grade)

Tenth graders have the opportunity to attend two field trips to Mid-East during the fall of their sophomore year. Field trips are not mandatory.

  • Scholarships 

Scholarship Central from the Muskingum County Community Foundation specializes in helping           identify scholarships specific to each student Set up a one-one-one appointment with Scholarship     Central at www.scholarshipcentral.org or call at 740.453.5192.    

  • Testing Information

End Of Course Exams: Per Ohio Graduation requirements, students take an exam at the end of                completing the following courses:  

  •  Algebra 1 
  • English Language Arts 2 

  • Biology

  • US History

  • US Government

  • Geometry

Students are required to earn a score of at least 684 on Algebra 1 and English Language Arts 2 as part of their graduation requirement. For those who do not meet a score of 684, on either exam,they will be retested in December of each year. Students can also earn graduation seals with a minimum score of 700 in Biology (Science Seal), and 700 in US History and Government (Citizenship Seal). Students not meeting those benchmarks may also be retested in December. Students and parents will be notified if a student needs to retake an exam.

  • ACT 
    Juniors can opt-in to take the ACT in the spring of their junior year (it’s typically the last week of February or the first week of March). This is paid for by the State of Ohio. If your student would like to take the ACT on their own time, they are can register at  www.act.org   and use ACT WM School Code: 365753 This code must be entered when registering for the ACT so a copy of your scores will be sent to WMHS. Otherwise WMHS will not have access to submit test scores on your behalf. 

ACT Prep
Visit https://www.mccf.org/Scholarship-Central/ACT-SAT-Prep/  to sign up for the ACT prep classes at Scholarship Central (Muskingum County Community Foundation).

  • ASVAB - The ASVAB is offered in October each school year for any interested students.
  • PSAT - The PSAT/NMSQT is extra standardized test practice for any sophomore or junior who is interested. The PSAT is offered in October of each school year. School Counselors ask students who are interested in May of the previous school year and then again the first week of August of the school year it is offered.
